Good tour- knowledgeable tour guide. Lovely vineyards to visit with warm welcome to both. The vineyard hosts were very informative and interesting in taking us through the wine making process and tasting.

The half-day in the Medoc was delightful. We had wonderful wines, with variety in the types of chateaux. The chateaux tours were really interesting. Our driver/guide was informative and fun.

I have to say that I enjoyed the tour guide Hugo (both the facts he shared during the drive and and his impromptu suggestion of visiting a chocolate factory), but the choice of the first winery we visited was terrible. I feel the tour and tasting we got there there were below acceptable and made me feel like I didn't get my money's worth. The second winery was good and the tour guide there was great, which increases the overall tour rating to 3/5, meaning it's not good enough for what I expected and what I paid. I was considering booking another tour for my stay in Bordeaux, but after my experience with OLALA I decided to skip it. I can't recommend this tour, especially at this price.

Alex did a fantastic job. The tour encompassed wine, and history, and local culture. The tour gave us a good feel for the region and the winemaking requirements. The wineries chosen gave a nice tour and exposure to their operation. We truly enjoyed it.

We had taken a full day tour to Saint Emilion 20 years ago, organised by the Bordeaux tourist bureau. We reminisced about that day so on our return we were keen to try another of their tours.
We really enjoyed the commentary/comedy routine provided by our delightful guide Xavier. His driving and his knowledge were excellent. Both wineries we visited were enjoyable. It was pleasant to be in a small group of eight too.

Booking was easy. Would have been nice to have a warmer welcoming and perhaps an introduction to Margaux appellation.
The car driver could not be heard in the back. Sound was not good. His presentation was rather dry. The personality of one of the ( intern) at one of the vineyards was good but she needed more training and knowledge. The guy at the last stop was funny and knowledgeable.I enjoyed the size of the group.. The wines were disappointing at each stop. . Actually, I probably over rated it on the whole.

Margaux was a very knowledgeable and warm guide. The chateaus were a very good range of style and pricepoints. The negatives, my husband and I were in the back row of the SUV and it was not at all smooth. She was a bit of an aggressive driver which didn't help. However we never felt unsafe or in danger. Also, there was a mix of French and English speakers on the tour and sometimes French was dominant which my husband did not speak. The conversations were not crucial but it was a bit off-putting.
Overall , however, we had a very enjoyable time. It was a great value.

I desperately wanted to give my husband this opportunity to visit Margaux and taste the wines. So much so that I reluctantly agreed to attend to make sure he got to go, even though I'm not a red wine drinker.
To my surprise, I enjoyed this immensely. Renee was extremely well-informed about the area, the wines, the industry, and the world at large. He was a delight to share time with and I was very FAR from being bored (which is what I had expected)! It had helped that we had been to Cite du Vin the day before, and had been on other winery tours in Europe and Australia. So we had some limited understanding of the processes and could ask reasonably intelligent questions that just made the tours even more interesting. The wines were lovely and my husband has become a definite Margaux fan! As I thought might happen! Many thanks to Renee who was a superb tour guide. Bravo Monsieur!

Generally a great tour. Driver unexpectedly dropped us off at a different location at the end of the tour however and we had to walk farther than anticipated to get back to our hotel.
We were in the rear of the vehicle and could not really hear much of his commentary because of road noise.

I liked everything about the tour. The vehicle is comfortsble, the drive/guide informative and friendly. Each chateaux was different which makes for a more interesting tour. The wines, and the discussion about thrm, made the visits worthwhile.

The tour guide was American and pretty new to Bordeaux. The tour started with a visit to chateaux Margaux. We could not get very close so I didn’t think it was really worth the stop. Pictures could only be taken at the gate. Our second stop was a mediocre Chateau where one of the wines was not a Margaux as it was a mix of grapes from outside of Margaux region. The wine cellar tour was interesting. The third stop was a much more modern chateau that had 2 excellent Margauxs for us to taste. Overall I would not suggest this tour.

4 hour tour but 2+ hours of it spent in the car travelling to location, found the background more about the vineyards than learning about the wines, content was pretty dry. Didn't even taste our first wine 'til 2 hours into the tour.

I originally booked for 4 of us then 2 couldn't make it about 2 weeks before I cancelled them and Olala refunded straight away. Our guide Jeremy was excellent. His English is perfect having lived in Australia and US for a while. We visited 2 wineries with a private tour and tastings. We would recommend this company and tour in Medoc area.

Loved this 4-hour Margaux tour! Knowledgeable and English-speaking guide Vincent made it informative and fun. Visited 2 wineries, including Chateau Marquis de Terme, with tastings and tours at each. Scenic Medoc drive and photo stop at Chateau Margaux capped off a great afternoon!

I liked that Vincent, the driver, had a breadth and depth of knowledge regarding history of wine making and the industry. He kept us engaged and interested during the almost 60 minute drive to the first chateau. He used a microphone that allowed me to hear from the back seat. He was patient with my questions. I had no difficulties related to the booking of the tour. I would definitely recommend this as a first time out for a chateau tour.

This was such a great tour to take after arriving in the morning. Margot was an excellent guide and we learned so much about the Bordeaux wine region and specifically Margaux. The two wineries were very different, which provided a good idea of the range of offerings in Margaux. The wines were delicious and it was well-paced. I'd definitely recommend this tour as an option to anyone visiting the Bordeaux region.

Ma mère et moi avons passé une excellente après-midi. Nous avons facilement réservé, trouvé rapidement l'endroit du rendez-vous. L'équipe qui nous a reçues était très sympa et le guide prudent au volant et très qualifié. Juste les explications n'étaient pas toujours très audibles à cause de problème de micro. Sinon, les deux châteaux visités étaient magnifiques, les explications très intéressantes et les vins délicieux. Bref, à recommander!!!

This four-hour tour was well-planned and enjoyable. The English-speaking guide, Vincent, was knowledgeable, friendly and very informative. After a photo stop at Chateau Margaux, we visited two Margaux establishments, the family-owned Chateau Paveil de Luze and the 4th Growth Chateau Marquis de Terme. In each case the chateau staff gave us a tour of the winery and a tasting of three wines. All in all the tour gave a good opportunity to drive through the Medoc vineyards and see a couple of chateaux at close quarters. Highly recommended.

La excursion ha estado muy bien organizada, nuestro guia, Vincent, era conocedor del mundo de los vinos y sus explicaciones fueron amenas. Como sugerencia, con la cata de vino es recomendable tomar algo de pan al menos para limpiar el paladar. Ademas, sería bueno incluir algo de comer para que la experiencia fuese mas completa.

Tour guide Catherine was very friendly, informative and made the whole trip a great adventure. She told us all about the region, wines etc. Both wineries were a good experience, everyone could make comparisons between them and their wines. Had a lovely time in good company in a fantastic scenery - couldn't ask for anything more!

I was a last-minute scheduler, so I did two ½ day small-group wine tours (instead of an all-day tour) with Oh la la Bourdeaux -- one to St. Emilion and the other to Margaux.
Both times, Catherine was the tour guide. She was exceptional. The 1 winery in St. Emilion and the 2 wineries in Margaux all provided solid explanations of how they operated, and seeing the 3 allowed me to observe the reasons wines from the same area are so different -- the vintners' decisions. But Catherine really added.
She was engaging with all group members, including while driving. Her city tour in St. Emilion was informative and had great time management for each stop. Since I had the two separate tours, there was a little overlap in the introductory information, and Catherine was great at including me in that portion with a lovely balance so I too, was still participating, but also neither dominating nor ignored. Really, well done.

The wine tour was great fun. Our guide was extremely informative and we had a great group. Whilst we understood the region predominantly produces red wine it would have been great to have some white or rose wine available for those non red wine drinkers.

I did both half day tour in Margaux and St. Emilion. Both tour guides Quentin? And Catherine were really polite and professional. I was not expecting such a high level of service and politeness on a tour that was priced on medium level. Tour guides took everyone in consideration and offered to take photos etc. They made you feel that you were in more upscale private tour. Chateaus were high level in terms of wine produced but also good value for money. That is important in a region where you have really expensive Chateaus and bulk producers. Small souvenir shops inside the chateaus was also nice.
These small group tours are also a good way to meet new people. Shout out to Ireland and Birmingham!
I would strongly suggest these Olala tours to anyone with an interest to Bordeaux region, wine or both.

Notre guide était une jeune femme dynamique et chaleureuse, à l’écoute des membres de notre groupe (6).
La visite au vignoble Larigaudiere etait tres bien organisée et notre hote chaleureux et sympathique. La seconde visite, au vignoble Marquis de Terme, était désorganisée, l’aire de dégustation était encombrée de verres sales et nous avons du attendre l’hôte une bonne dizaine de minutes.
Nous aurions pu prendre notre voiture et nous rendre nous-mêmes a moindre cout mais nous avons eu l’occasion de faire connaissance avec les autres couples du groupe.

Nous sommes ravis de ce tour d'une matinée dans le Médoc ! Faustine a été une guide précise, présente et attentive, fine connaisseuse de la région et de ses vins. Elle a brillamment jonglé entre l'anglais et le français pour s'adapter à son auditoire. Les guides des châteaux visités étaient clairs et disponibles pour répondre à toutes nos questions. Nous avons visité deux merveilleux domaines et fait un arrêt au château Margaux, en pouvant déguster tous les vins proposés en toute tranquillité, puisque ce tour permet de ne pas conduire.

The trip was cancelled last minute and I had to join another tour. The tour on the website is 10 euros cheaper but the operator insisted it is the same price because it is the peak season. When we visited st emilion it was clearly not the peak season, there were nobody there, there were many constructions going on. Our guide was very friendly and nice, but she struggled with fully expressing herself in English. She tried to share many information about wine, but she is also not fully familiar about all the details, like the Malbec in st emilion didn't come from argentina.

Great tour guide (Flo), so knowledgeable and friendly. Margaux was very pretty and the wineries in the area were interesting. Pessac wines were actually my favourite wines which weren’t on the tour. Flo also gave us tips for places to visit in Bordeaux for brunch and drinks as well as wineries to go to in St Emilion as we had missed out on the full day tour. Would definitely recommend!

It was a nice tour to the Medóc region - the guide was very knowledgeable and explained about the left bank, the differences on the wine etc. We visited two wineries, which have different processes on making their wines, making interesting to see and learn about them. Tasting is done in each winery. By the group's request, the guide also stopped by Chateau Margaux for a quick look (we did not went in).

This was a great trip with 2 chateau visits including a third stop at Chateau Margeaux for a photo opportunity.
Tour guide was super informative about the region and local areas including spots that we were not visiting around Bordeaux.
Both tour leads at each chateau were very warm, friendly and engaging with explaining the history and set up of their productions.
We was able to taste a variety of wines at each and overall was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
On the way back, we were recommended the best spots in Bordeaux to visit for the scenery, the food and the wine which we did for the rest of our stay.
10/10 would recommend.

Enjoyed going to Ch Lascombes. The guide was good and informative. However one chateau on this tour was the same one covered on the Medoc tour! so not so good to visit same place twice in 24 hours. Maybe make sure each tour vineyards are different. But still enjoyable

Really enjoyed this tour. Quentin was knowledgeable, passionate about all things wine, and fun. Very good English so there were no communication issues. No question was too much trouble. The two chateaux in Margaux were excellent.

La route était longue sur des petits chemins étroits et cahoteux. C’était très inconfortable dans la mini camionnette car il y avait trop de personnes. J’avais demandé un tour en français et on m’a mis dans un groupe anglais. Les dégustations étaient intéressantes et on pouvait poser nos questions. Les vignobles visités sont des noms peu connus et on nous emmène toujours aux mêmes endroits…réservoirs, barils et salle dégustation mais jamais dans les vignes. Je ne recommande pas ce tour car il est trop cher et somme toute moyennement intéressant.

Overall, I enjoyed this "Half Day in Margaux: tour. The visits and tastings at the two wine chateau were conducted very well. Seeing both of them provided insights into some of the differences in wine production. The guides at both locations were excellent. The tour leader/driver was also very knowledgeable and provided much useful information on the drive from Bordeaux (city ) to the Margaux region. The stop at Chateau Margaux for a "photo op" added to the experience.
In my opinion, the van was quite crowded with the full-capacity of 8 guests inside. Also, this small, crowded van made it difficult to appreciate many of the chateau that were mentioned as we drove through the Margaux region. For me, this detracted from the tour.

I spontaneously booked this experience the morning of at the tourism office. I’d never done a wine tour/tasting before so a lot of the experiences I’d glanced at online that were €150+ felt steep for something I didn’t know if I’d like or not, but this felt perfect: a half-day trip to visit 2 chateaus for €85. The semi-private tour was only 7 people, so I felt comfortable asking questions and got to know the other people in our group. Our guide Estelle was super fun and knowledgeable, and the chateaus were fascinating and educational. I had a lot of fun! Definitely would recommend for other visitors who are looking for something to do!

Really enjoyed the two wineries. Both very unique et very good wine. Stephane and Rene were great. They made our afternoon very enjoyable.
Isabelle and a wonderful lady(unfortunately I don't have her name, tall, slim with dark hair) at the Tourism Office were the ones who recommended this tour. They were both very helpful and went out of there way to ensure that my stay in Bordeaux was exceptional.

There was a stark difference between the first winery which felt very rushed and not as welcoming, and the second where the guide was wonderful and really explains a lot, and also seems to be more welcoming to guests in general.
I think this company missed an opportunity to discuss wine production in Bordeaux in the 45 minutes been in the car there and back.
I also feel it would’ve been more professional if they had offered us some water or a little bit of bread or snacks between tastings.
The tour was not bad but certainly can be improved in several ways

Nice tour that met expectations. Saw a smaller winery and a larger higher quality one. The guides were friendly. They also stopped us at Ch. Margaux but we could only look at it through gates- cool to say we were (sort of) there, but also a little strange. It was nice to drive through the Margaux countryside. Van was comfortable.

My husband and I had a very enjoyable tour of both Chateau Paveil De Luze and the Chateau Dauzac. The vineyards were very different and both the hosts were very knowledgeable. The wines were gorgeous! Our guide for the trip Estelle was excellent and so were the two 'trainees', Florentine and Enzo. Their knowledge was not confined to the wine and they were happy to share their knowledge of the region and other points of interest. They were all very informative and engaging and we learned a huge amount from them all. We had a very pleasant day. Merci Beaucoup!

I highly recommend this activity if you are interested in wine and its production. The guided tours at the châteaux were really interesting and the wine tasting of course delicious. We also learned how to taste the wine properly so you can experience the taste on a higher level. The atmosphere was really good, everyone was so friendly and it was a lot of fun to travel there with the group. It is also a great opportunity to get in touch with new people as the group is small and you can get to know each other on the drive to Médoc and back. Our guide stopped at two other châteaux as well (one of them was château Margaux) so we could take a look at them. An additional plus: the booking and payment went perfectly. In conclusion: a fun little roadtrip!

Plu seulement: Le coté passioné et passionant de Max qui ne se prend pas au sérieux, mais qui en connaît long sur les vins et qui a choisi avec goût 2 visites très intéressantes et enrichissantes, un château et un petit producteur.
Max connaît également très bien Bordeaux et sa suggestion pour l'exposition Gustav Klimt, où je n'aurais même pas pensé m'arrêter, aux Bassins de Lumières dans l'ancienne base sous-marine à côté de la cité des vins, également extraordianaire, m'a fasciné.
Après-midi inoubliable... merci :-)

Guide très sympa qui nous a donné pas mal de bons plans sur Bordeaux au retour. Elle nous a également beaucoup appris sur la région et la façon dont le vin était produit.
Tres agréable d'être en petit groupe pour découvrir la région.
On visite 2 châteaux totalement différents, c'est très instructif. Les dégustations sont très agréables.
Je conseille cette excursion pour passer un agréable moment convivial et très enrichissant dans un cadre magnifique.

An afternoon in Margaux with a squeaky van

This trip offered two vineyard visits with tasting and a look at the Margaux vineyard from the gate. The tour was well structured with two different experiences and the guide informative and organised. Unfortunately the passenger van had an annoying squeak/ rattle in the rear which made hearing the guide very difficult and uncomfortable for the three back seat passengers. We advised the guide, who couldn’t rectify the problem, and then provided a sound recording to assist the mechanics in sorting it out. Sadly we haven’t heard back from the Tour company in over two weeks which is disappointing.

Hi Ann, It is nice to see you enjoyed the tour despite this mechanical problem. We are working on fixing it and we also use a micro so that the guide can be heard in the back of the van.
